Inuka is the first Polar bear born in the tropics. His birth is a testimony to Singapore zoo's well managed animal husbandry efforts, since keeping polar bears in a hot and humid country like Singapore is no mean feat, let alone breeding them. The population of polar bears in the Arctic has stabilised, thanks to the laws protecting them from being illegally hunted.
